reflection on government - leadership

what I have done during our lessons in social studies is learn about leadership and government.

what is government - what do government do

What is government? Well during our lessons in social studies I've learnt about the government. Government is the term used to describe the system of rules used to run a community and the people who make and administer those decisions of those rules.

With the booklet given to us to use, read and understand I had to identify why I think larger communities need more complex government than smaller ones need.

To be honest in my opinion that because there are more regulations and restrictions it often cost more money.

For what do governments do we had to read the paragraphs in the booklet and we needed to answer the questions in the best ability we can, by reading the paragraphs I have learnt that the government have 3 key powers which are

  1. Executive. The power to make decisions.

  2. Legislative. The power to make laws.

  3. Judicial. The power to interpret laws.( to decide what they mean and how they are intended to work ).

leadership

leadership, with this topic i had to explain my understanding of leadership and who I look up to as a leader.

I think good leadership involves being a good team worker, a leader who is open minded to certain situations, knows how to take control of the moment and lead his or her team.  Leadership  lies in guiding others to succeed in ensuring that everyone is performing at their best and doing the work they are given to do and doing it well.

By following the rules and doing what's right you can be a role model to those around you and you can guide them to the right path.

Someone I look up to as a leader would be my dad.

I look up to him as a leader because he's hard working and always has a positive attitude, he's always helping around wherever he is and he is respectful and polite.

When we're out on a kaupapa he likes to help around and clean up. He likes to guide me and others to make sure we are doing the right things.  In kaupapa waka he's always on the side of people, he's always there to support and help correct people when they're making mistakes, he would help demonstrate and guide them to do the right thing, the right way.  My dad shows leadership by being humble, confident, a good communicator,  helpful and friendly.

9T English

For this blog I will be talking about the things I've learnt throughout the year. so for my first lesson to now.

in my first lesson of English I learnt about a book 'see ya Simon' it was a book about a boy with a wheel chair we read and learnt about him, he had a mussel disease in his legs and had to live in a wheel chair  we had to do about 20 slides for this topic, in those lessons for see ya Simon in the end of the story sadly Simon passes away in his sleep due to his sickness.

Another lesson we learnt about after see ya Simon was our biography and our speech, so for biography we were talking all about ourselves and our family and culture and more we did that topic for maybe 2 weeks talked about my family members my subjects at school and culture and more. after that we started our speeches about one of our idols I chose my dad because his been there for me since day one and is so kind. when it was time to speak in front of the class I wasn't very brave so I asked if I was able to say it in front of the girls and they agreed it was still hard for me but I got over it.

After that topic was over we started doing film studies i was falling behind a bit but i ended up catching up in that we were learning all the different shots like low shot, side shot, angel shot, over the shoulder shot close up and more. Throughout learning about film studies we would watch these short clips of videos and explain what it was about and all the different shots we noticed in the clips.  we did dust buddies for one wand kung fuu panda, new boy, frosty and the BMX. we would do short creative writing about it and the we did different storys for our creative writing like our holidays, letter to myself, during lockdown and more. When we got used to the story's we switched to creative writing and learning about verbs, adverbs, adjectives, similes and more
